Sold to Orient Express Travel Group
Orient Express Travel Group (OETG) has announced that they are expanding beyond their Asia base with the purchase of Transglobal Destinations Management (TDM) wholesale business in Melbourne.
TGD’s niche wholesale product to Turkey, Greece and Egypt will relocate to OETG’s head office in Melbourne and operate under a new Orient Express Holidays brand.
TGD’s managing director Bernard Schaff, a long time industry identity, will continue to consult with OETG on the Europe development program. Three TGD staff will be retained and will report to OETG product manager, Denise Dodd.
CEO of OETG, Tom Manwaring said Orient Express Holidays would be a wholesale brand for Europe, Egypt and India product while the company’s existing wholesale brand, CP Holidays would continue to focus on Asia from the group’s Sydney office.
All products will be available through the web-based WhoDo software system, linked to the OE Express Ticketing booking engine.
Mr Manwaring said that with OETG’s strong carriage of customers into Asia and its growing consolidation business, there were solid business grounds for adding destinations beyond Asia.
“TGD has the product style and scale for us to start with,” he said.
The purchase price is undisclosed.
Orient Express Travel Group as a consolidator runs Express Ticketing and Express Fares for The Select Travel Group and other travel agent networks, as a retailer it operates the Orient Express Travel and ASTravel brands, as a wholesaler markets the brands Cathay Pacific Holidays and CP Holidays and as an inbound operator runs CP Tours.
