South Africa uses charismatic guides to promote tourism
South African Tourism has based its latest marketing campaign on the passion and expertise of its tour guides.
It has chosen 12 of its most passionate guides to feature in the ‘Meet Your South Africa’ campaign.
Guides have been handpicked by the tourism board due to their ‘friendliness, charisma and invaluable knowledge and expertise’ in their respective fields.
They include a game ranger, an outdoor adventure guide, a marine biologist, a chef, a wine expert and local city guides.
The guides are featured in a new dedicated section of South African Tourism’s website, www.southafrica.net/meetyoursouthafrica, which includes Q&As, imagery and video content.
Holidaymakers can book individual tours with their favourite guides as well as any of the multi-day packages tailormade by tour operator partner, Travelbag.
The guides also star in a consumer-focused print brochure highlighting the best things to see and do in South Africa.
A trade-focused print brochure highlights the main selling points of the destination.
"One of the things that people always remember after visiting our country are our friendly and welcoming South Africans," said Tolene Van der Merwe, hub head UK & Ireland for South African Tourism.
"The new website serves to connect UK travellers with South Africans and allows them to meet the stars of the campaign and preview their associated tours before they book. We hope that our campaign will inspire travellers to book a trip to South Africa in 2019."
