The national tourism offices of Argentina, Chile and Colombia will launch a joint marketing effort focused on Australia this year.

In a collaborative first, the three tourism bureaus will visit Australia in August together with 30 South American representatives including key cities, hotels and leading tourism attractions.

During the campaign, Argentina, Chile and Colombia will stage events in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to present their countries’  latest tourism news to wholesalers, travel agents, industry partners and media.

"In 2012 Australia is a growth market for us and one which will continue to build," said Carolina Valenzuela of Turismo Chile.

"We are coming to Australia in response to demand from Australian wholesalers and travel agents now seeking more and different information about how to package and sell travel opportunities to more of South America."

Events will be held on August 20, Sydney Ivy Room; August 22, Intercontinental Rialto Melbourne and August 23, Hilton Brisbane.
