Southwest Airlines adding Cancun flights
Southwest Airlines has announced a series of new international flights to vacation hotspots for the winter season.
Beginning Nov. 11, 2017, Southwest’s first international services will depart from Nashville and St. Louis to Cancun every Saturday.
Both routes are still subject to the necessary approvals and will run through January 7, 2018.
"Our position as hometown carrier in Nashville and in St. Louis with more than 100 flights a day this summer from both airports makes this weekly shortcut to Cancun a natural addition for our loyal customers," said Dave Harvey, the airline’s managing director of business development.
To kick off the new routes, Southwest is offering one-way fares from $149.
Nashville is also getting an additional domestic service to Milwaukee from early November.
Also announced are flights to San Jose, Costa Rica and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic from the carrier’s South Florida gateway at Fort Lauderdale—Hollywood Airport, also beginning in November.
This is in addition to the previously announced service to Providenciales, Turks & Caicos from FLL which is slated to begin November 5.
