Southwest Airlines’ Hawaii sales take-off with USD49 offer
Southwest Airlines’ long awaited Hawaii launch is less than two weeks away.
The carrier announced the first flights will begin on March 17 with tickets now on sale.
There are introductory fares starting at $49 one way for travel through mid-June on the website.
The launch route will be Oakland to Honolulu with other routes from California starting in April and May.
These include San Diego, Sacramento, and San Jose.
The airline was finally granted Federal Aviation Administration approval last week after delays due to the government shutdown.
Southwest said flights will serve four Hawaiian Islands – Honolulu on Oahu, Maui, Lihue on Kauai and the Big Island.
CEO Gary Kelly previously said Las Vegas flights to Hawaii could be added in the future.
