Southwest Airlines will pay out a record $620 million in profit sharing to its workforce based on its 2015 financial performance.
Southwest said it is the largest amount ever and equates to about two months’ salary for each worker.
"Our people have built one of the world’s most admired companies, and they share in Southwest’s success with this third consecutive record-breaking profit-sharing contribution," said Southwest president Gary Kelly.
The profit share lump sum will be paid out on April 29, the company said.
About 47,400 staff members are eligible for the profit-sharing bonanza, Southwest spokesman Bob Hughes said.
Southwest was the first in the aviation industry to offer a profit sharing plan.
United Airlines recently announced its workforce will share in a record $698 windfall after posting its full-year results.
