Southwest scheme lets agents set commission

Friday, 31 Oct, 2003 0

Southwest Airlines Vacations says it is putting travel agents in control of their own profitability with their Set Your Commission tool, available only through VAX Vacation/Access.

The tool allows agents to include a service fee, or customize their own commission, the company says.

Southwest Airlines Vacations sold through VAX include a 10% commission on bulk air packages. Published fare vacation packages include a 10% commission on the land portion of the booking and a 5% commission on the air potion.

Before quoting a total package price, however, agents can now utilize the Set Your Commission tool by adjusting their own commissions. But VAX sets a maximum commission amount of $10 or 20% of the gross sales amount.
