Spain’s indoor mask rule to be scrapped ‘soon’
British travellers could be enjoying an Easter holiday break in Spain maskless.
Face coverings remain mandatory indoors but that could be changing.
Spain PM Pedro Sanchez this week said mandatory masks indoors could be scrapped ‘soon, very soon.’
Thousands of UK travellers are expected to travel to Spain next month for the mid-April Easter school holidays.
“Very soon, when our Health Minister says so, we’ll be able to remove the mandatory status of face masks indoors,” Sanchez said.
Sanchez said dropping the requirement is possible beacause of the ‘formidable response’ to the pandemic.
He said Spain now has the ‘lowest’ cumulative incidence of Covid in the European Union.
Spanish and regional government officials will consider the face mask rule at a meeting this week.
