Spain reports first monkeypox deaths
Spain, with over 4,200 confirmed cases of monkeypox, reported its first two deaths. They came 24 hours apart over the weekend.
They are two of only a three deaths recorded outside of Africa so far. Brazil had earlier confirmed a monkeypox-related death.
There are about 11,000 cases of monkeypox within Europe.
Spain’s Ministry of Health released a report stating there were 4,298 confirmed cases as of July 29.
Germany, France, the Netherlands and Portugal also have a high number of cases.
