Specialist travel firm ceases trading
A company specialising in religious pilgrimages has ceased trading, reports the CAA.
Abbott Travel, based in Ilford, Essex had held an ATOL licence since 12 June 2006.
On its website, the tour operator said it offered authorised and approved packages for Hajj and Umrah, authorised and approved by the Government of Saudi Arabia.
But the company is criticised on TripAdvisor with a few pages devoted to complaints about two star hotels when four star have been promised, poor tour leaders, inadequate transport and frequent changes to the itinerary.
The CAA said consumers who had bookings for flight inclusive packages will need to read the guidance and complete a claim form in order to claim a refund.
For those consumers who only booked scheduled flights then you should contact the airline.
It said for bookings on or after 01 October 2012, customers should include the ATOL Certificate with claims.
