Spirit Airlines adding Puerto Rico flights
Budget carrier Spirit Airlines is adding more daily flights to Puerto Rico.
This week it expanded service to San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International airport with daily nonstops from Boston Logan and Newark and will soon boost service from Newark with a second daily flight beginning February 1, 2020.
Additional daily flights announced include from Orlando International Airport effective from February 21, 2020, and Philadelphia in March.
An extra daily flight will launch from Baltimore starting May 21.
"We are thrilled to expand our Puerto Rico service portfolio with new destinations and more nonstops to San Juan," said John Kirby, vice president of network planning at Spirit Airlines.
Spirit says it plans to add further seasonal services for next summer.
"We are confident that this increase in air capacity will continue to expand travel alternatives for thousands of passengers through the Luis Muñoz Marín Airport," said Carla Campos, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.
