Spirit Airlines launching more Florida flights from Indianapolis
Spirit Airlines celebrated its inaugural flight launch from Indianapolis International Airport with two more routes being added.
Following the Indianapolis to Las Vegas flight launch, the carrier will begin year-round service to Tampa and Fort Myers starting November 14, joining a new Orlando route which kicks off on Friday.
The airline also starts seasonal service to Myrtle Beach in May.
Spirit comes up against competition from Southwest Airlines on both routes but has high hopes for the new flights.
"We’ve seen such strong embracement of our service that we have confidence that we can continue to expand at Indianapolis," said John Kirby, VP of network planning at Spirit.
"We’re a leisure airline so we look for opportunities to enhance our leisure position in the marketplace."
IND welcomed a record 9.4 million air travelers last year.
