Spirit Airlines restarting Latin America flights from Orlando
Spirit Airlines is bringing back international service from Orlando, Florida in time for the festive season.
It is relaunching six nonstop international routes throughout the month of December, starting with Bogota, Colombia four times a week, and three times a week to San Pedro Sula, Honduras on 4 December.
It will then add flights to Cartagena, Cancun, Guatemala City and San Salvador.
It also plans to reinstate daily flights to Aguadilla in early January 2021.
"We’re excited to offer so many nonstop international options from Central Florida. We’re the only major airline based in Florida, and the Orlando market is one of our largest gateways," said Spirit Airlines Vice President of Network Planning, John Kirby.
Spirit said it handled 2.6 million passengers at Orlando last year.
It restarted most of its domestic schedules from Orlando in the summer.
When these routes resume it will serve 38 destinations from the airport.
Greater Orlando Aviation Authority Chief Executive Officer Phil Brown said: "We’re pleased Spirit is taking steps to rebuild connectivity, including resuming service to international destinations currently suspended during the pandemic."
