Spirit will launch Atlanta, New Orleans flights from Midwest
Ultra low cost carrier Spirit Airlines has announced new routes from the Midwest to Atlanta and New Orleans beginning in November.
Spirit will start flying to Atlanta from Chicago O’Hare nonstop from November 2.
The airline will also launch a New Orleans service from O’Hare from November 6 and like Atlanta, will start initially with one round-trip daily.
These two new routes make 21 destinations served from the Windy City with connecting services to another 26 cities.
The carrier also announced an expansion to a year-round service on its Chicago-Baltimore/Washington route which will also kick off on November 6.
Spirit’s expansion at O’Hare "demonstrates Chicago is a high-demand market," said Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie Andolino.
Also commencing on the same dates, Spirit will start flying to Atlanta and New Orleans from Detroit, adding to its 15 existing routes from the city which include Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas and Orlando.
The Miramar, Florida based carrier this week announced a 45.2% rise in net income for the second quarter to $66.5 million.
