Sponsors back British Travel Awards
The British Travel Awards will take place on November 15 – the last night of World Travel Market – recognising the best companies in travel at a glittering ceremony in Battersea Park, London, whilst continuing support of the global Just A Drop charity.
New for this year, the BTAs has secured a late-night licence until 04.00 – which means there will be even more networking time and entertainment to keep guests busy until the early hours, including the introduction of a late night “Island Cruises Jongleurs Comedy Club”.
Andy Furlong, marketing director of Island Cruises, said: “We are delighted to sponsor the Jongleurs Comedy Club at this year’s British Travel Awards.
“New for 2008, Jongleurs, the biggest name in UK comedy, will open a club on board our flagship the Island Star, and via our support of this event we are proud to showcase the best in British comedy entertainment available to Island Cruises’ customers.”
With so much going on, including dancing to a Club DJ, live entertainment and the comedy club – not to mention dinner and the awards presentations – Gullivers Travel Associates (GTA) – part of the Travelport Group – is to once again provide official complimentary coach transport for guests from Excel (WTM) to Battersea – and back into Marble Arch and Victoria throughout the night. The last coach will also drop off at various points back to Waterloo.
Other industry sponsors for The British Travel Awards in 2007 include major names in travel, with support for the voting process coming from The Triton Group, The Institute of Travel & Tourism, Advantage Travel, World Travel Market and official trade media associate – TravelMole.
Other trade partners currently include P&O Ferries, Thomas Cook, Sandals and Beaches Resorts, Voyages of Discovery and von Essen Luxury Family Hotels.
Thomas Cook’s Marc Bennett said: “The British Travel Awards provide a great opportunity to recognise and reward those companies within our industry that have shown market leading qualities and innovation over the past year. The awards represent the very best of the travel industry today and Thomas Cook UK & Ireland is delighted to be a part of these prestigious awards.”
Phil Dickinson, of Sandals and Beaches Resorts, added: “Sandals prides itself on setting industry standards, and The British Travel Awards are all about recognising excellence and those whose work makes the travel industry such a stimulating and rewarding environment to be part of – we are delighted to be involved with the BTAs.”
