The St. Kitts area is trying to cater to more upscale and experienced travelers.

“Our goal for St. Kitts is to create a tourism product that can compete with the finest destinations in the world,” said D. O. Skerritt, minister of state in the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture.

Various initiatives underway include a new small luxury hotel with a world-class golf course due to open early next year.

Other new developments:

  • The La Vallee Golf course offering great views of the Caribbean is an 18-hole course due to open next year. It will also have a marina, hotel resort and other amenities.

  • Heritage Plantation is a new upscale community of 19 luxury villas in widely different styles. It will have such upscale features as a spa. Construction is well underway.

  • The boutique Plantation Inn on the north side of St. Kitts is undergoing an extensive expansion and renovation with new cottages and luxury amenities.
