St Kitts ready to reopen to tourists by month-end
St Kitts and Nevis is set to reopen borders to tourism at the end of the month.
Travelers will be allowed back from 31 October, 2020 after the CDC recently lowered its risk level to ‘very low’ with ‘No Travel Notice’ required.
‘Ongoing and careful consultation’ with the Chief Medical Officer took place before announcing the reopening, officials said.
"We have been working diligently to prepare for this reopening to ensure that we are ready to welcome travelers by training and certifying local businesses and individuals in the health and safety protocols they are required to meet," said Lindsay Grant, Minister Of Tourism, Transport and Ports.
Tourism businesses must undergo ‘Travel Approved’ training and certification before accepting guests and visitors.
That will assure residents and visitors the destination is ‘ensuring health and safety protocols are not compromised.’
The twin island nation has recorded just a handful of Covid-19 cases and no deaths.
There are currently no active cases.
Grenada, another nation designated as ‘very low-risk,’ has opened borders and is accepting foreign travelers.
Over the next few days, JetBlue Airways, Air Canada and American Airlines are resuming flights to Maurice Bishop International Airport.
