St. Lucia: The Land, The People, The Light
Through the theme of ‘The Land, The People, The Light’, launched on March 23, the Saint Lucia Tourist Board and its partners will be updating the trade and consumers on its hotel product, activities and experiences.
The theme, which is also the island’s motto, ‘The Land, The People, The Light’ represents the dramatic scenery, warm sparkling waters and soft sandy beaches; the warmth and friendly cool Caribbean vibe of the people; and of course the unbeatable year round climate.
Travel agent evenings will be taking on a new format this year and including more venues to showcase Saint Lucia’s successful niche markets plus the diversity of accommodation available. Evenings will be held in Cork, Dublin, Brighton, Bristol, York, Huntingdon and London. Attendees will be invited to ‘travel’ through Saint Lucia as each training table will represent a different area on the island, i.e. Castries, Soufriere, Anse-La-Raye, Rodney Bay Village. Work stations will include Weddings & Honeymoons; Spa & Enchanting Places (providing attendees with a mini-spa experience); Sports & Adventures and Island Events. There will also be an opportunity for one lucky agent at each event to win a place on this year’s ‘Grand Familiarisation Trip’ to Saint Lucia.
Saint Lucia Tourist Board will be working with their hotel partners attending different events throughout the month, set to culminate in a grand Gala Awards Dinner on April 23 at The Mandarin Oriental in London. This annual event will be attended by the members of the delegation, key dignitaries and friends of Saint Lucia.
Saint Lucia’s Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister, Allen Chastanet will also be conducting a series of nationwide press and radio interviews to promote the exciting developments ahead for Saint Lucia, and help raise the profile of the complete Saint Lucia holiday experience.
“Saint Lucia Month provides an excellent opportunity to promote Saint Lucia’s entire holiday experience to the industry, with the support of our partners,” explains Debbie Melchor, Acting Manager, Saint Lucia Tourist Board. ”There have already been a number of reasons to celebrate in 2009 with our 30th Anniversary of Independence, the re-branding and we have just confirmed Amy Winehouse for Saint Lucia Jazz which is certain to greatly boost footfall to the island in May. Plus, with direct flights three times a week with both British Airways and Virgin, and many new openings of luxury resorts and boutique residences, Saint Lucia has more to offer than ever before.”
Hotel partners for the events during Saint Lucia Month 2009 are:
- Coconut Bay Resort & Spa Discovery at Marigot Bay
- Jade Mountain rex resorts
- Anse Chastanet Bay Gardens Beach Resort
- Cap Maison Jalousie Plantation
- Rendezvous Sandals Resorts
- East Winds Inn Almond Resorts
- The BodyHoliday at LeSPORT Ladera
