Staff consultation begins as Newmarket Holidays reviews its business

Thursday, 16 Oct, 2018 0

Newmarket Holidays is starting consultation with staff working for its UK coach holidays operations as part of a business review.

The company said the review was being carried out as it ‘looks to assess the future strategy’ of its organisation and ‘further strengthen its core activities’.

It said UK coach holidays account for less than 15% of its total turnover.

The decision follows the sale of its specialist educational tours division to Next Generation Travel.

A spokesman for Newmarket Holidays said: "Over the past 35 years we have built an enviable reputation in the escorted tours and holiday market; we have a loyal customer base; a strong financial base; and excellent relationships with our suppliers and partners. We also, and most importantly, have an experienced and devoted team.

"The market is very competitive and demands that today’s modern travel business needs to be agile so that it can continue to adapt and flourish when opportunities present themselves in order to remain strong and successful."

Alongside its UK escorted tours and coach holidays, Newmarket Holidays operates escorted tours and coach trips in Europe and has also built a strong portfolio to the US and Canada, India, Southeast Asia and Africa.

It joined CLIA in 2018, a move which it described as signifying the importance of the River and Ocean Cruise markets to the company.

A statement said it would make no further comment until the consultation is concluded.
