Star Clippers recognized for sustainability in Costa Rica
Small ship cruise line Star Clippers has been recognised for its sustainable practices in Costa Rica
The sustainability initiative Costa Rica Sanctuary was established by the tourism board to promote the country as the ultimate natural escape.
Costa Rica Sanctuary focuses on showcasing the country through five pillars: culture, adventure, nature & wildlife, wellness and sustainability.
The Pura Vida Pledge is a four-step plan within the initiative to recognise and promotes hand-selected tour operators that focus on eco-friendly travel.
As a part of the pledge, customers are also encouraged to offset their carbon footprint.
Star Clipper, which holds 166 guests at maximum capacity, sails seven-night voyages around Costa Rica, Panama and Nicaragua from December 2022 – March 2023.
Star Clippers operates three of the world’s tallest fully-crewed sailing vessels.
The ships can drop anchor in smaller harbors and visit ports often untouched by larger cruise ships.
