Stepped up air service in Caribbean
Some airlines have added new service to the Caribbean and Latin America, including:
- Continental Airlines added five new routes.
- Caribbean Star Airlines and Caribbean Sun Airlines made public their plans to dramatically expand service.
Continental will begin service from its Houston hub to Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Continental will also inaugurate service from its New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport to Liberia, Costa Rica and Curacao, Netherlands Antilles.
Caribbean Star and Sun will add routes between Guyana and Barbados; Port of Spain and Barbados; Antigua to St. Kitts and Barbados; Anguilla to St. Kitts and Antigua; and Barbados to St. Lucia, Grenada, Antigua, Georgetown and Port of Spain.
Caribbean Star is adding daily service from Georgetown, Guyana, to Bridgetown, Barbados, as well as re-scheduling the existing flight schedule to allow roundtrip connections to London.
Caribbean Sun is boosting service by 33%, airline officials said.
The airline said it was adding to its schedule because of demand from Europe and the UK.
