Still no ebookers deal
There were few moves of major significance among industry shares yesterday, as London’s equity markets registered small gains. The FTSE 100 index added 9.2 points to end the day at 4803.1, while the FTSE 250 put on 10.2 points to close at 6592.5. The biggest news of the day was at ebookers, with The Guardian reporting that a “hoped-for bid for the online travel agency failed to materialise”. The firm’s finance director Michael Healy is quoted as saying that he hoped a deal would be done by the end of the year, but “could not promise investors a deal would definitely be done”. The company’s shares dropped 6.5p to 285.5p as traders were “left unsatisfied”.
