Storms continue to batter US
Heavy snowstorms are still affecting travel in north-eastern parts of the US and have spread to Canada.
The BBC says the blizzards, among the worst in a century, have now led to the cancellation of thousands of flights and left travellers stranded in Boston, New York and Chicago as well as a string of smaller US cities.
In Canada, Toronto has been badly affected and blizzard warnings were in force in parts of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and all of Newfoundland.
Newfoundland has already been swamped by snow, with 60cm falling on Sunday and one town, St John’s, recording a winter record for snowfall.
