Stowe mountain resort sold to Vail
Vail Resorts is to buy all ski operations at the East Coast Stowe Mountain Resort for an estimated $50 million.
Vail’s portfolio already spans Utah to Australia, but Stowe will be its first acquisition on the East Coast.
Stowe, covering almost 500-acres of Vermont, is an upmarket resort with lift prices among the highest in New England.
"I think this is a win-win for everybody in terms of what Vail brings to the table with their significant brand and marketing presence in the marketplace," said Parker Riehle, the president of the Vermont Ski Areas Association.
Stowe will be added to Vail’s Epic Pass program for the next ski season.
Vail owns resorts in Colorado, California, Utah, the Midwest, British Columbia and Australia.
