Strategic Airlines eyes US flights
New Aussie carrier Strategic Airlines has won approval to fly to the United States.
The International Air Services Commission granted Strategic unlimited passenger and cargo capacity on the Australia-US route for the next decade.
Strategic – tipped to be rebranded as Air Australia – flies to Bali and Phuket in Thailand.
The airline said in its application to the commission that it planned to begin services to the US in September.
It is believed to be eyeing Honolulu as a destination because its fleet of A330 aircraft does not have the range to fly non-stop to the US mainland.
