Strategic links Brisbane-Bali via Port Hedland

Strategic Airlines will launch full-service flights from Brisbane to Port Hedland in Western Australia, and then on to Bali, from August 3, subject to regulatory approval.

The Brisbane-based airline will operate the weekly service every Tuesday, using an Airbus A320 offering 12 business class seats and 144 economy seats.

A second weekly service operating on a Saturday is expected to commence in September 2010.

The new service will coincide with Strategic’s introduction of A320 direct flights from Brisbane to Port Hedland on the same day.

Strategic Airlines’ head of commercial, Damien Vasta, said, “Until now, residents and workers in Port Hedland have had to travel to Perth before they can fly anywhere else, which has incurred substantial costs for them in airfares, accommodation and time.

“Strategic will have them in Denpasar within just two hours. This not only cuts their air travel costs dramatically, but also reduces their travelling time by hours and saves at least one night of accommodation.”
