Strike action threatens TAP Portugal

Strike action threatens to disrupt TAP Portugal flights on April 14, 16, 18 & 19,

Pilots within its subsidiary company, Portugalia, have called for a series of one day stoppages over pay and conditions.

The airline said if the strikes go ahead, there would be severe delays and/or flight cancellations between London Gatwick and Porto.

However, Heathrow operations would not be affected

TAP said customers will be switched, where possible, to other TAP flights departing from Heathrow.

Customers may also wish to consider other travel dates, it added.

"Those holding confirmed and ticketed bookings wishing to change their travel plans may do so, free of charge.

"Date changes are subject to availability on alternative services and within the same business or economy booking class.

"For changes or cancellation refunds, customers can either contact their travel agency if the tickets were issued by a travel service provider or with TAP for bookings done through the airline’s call centre or website."

TAP said senior managers are negotiating with the appropriate authorities.

“They are optimistic that the issues between the two parties can be resolved without the need for a strike,” it added.

For the latest information and further assistance on changes or cancellations customers are being asked to contact TAP at 0870 601 0932 or contact their travel agent.
