Strike threat at airport immigration days before Olympics
David Cameron has condemned the threat of strike by immigration staff at London’s airports in the week before the Olympics.
Thousands of border control staff have voted to take action over job cuts, pay and other issues.
Members of the Public and Commercial Services Union will decide this morning what form the action will take.
The Prime Minister said today a walk out would not be right or justifiable.
The PCS said 57% of its members had backed a campaign of strike action.
But while 16,000 PCS members in the Home Office were balloted, the turnout was just 20%.
This equates to just 1,800 people out of 16,000 potential voters.
Britain’s immigration minister Damian Green said any action that disrupts the Olympics is "completely unacceptable and the public will not support it."
