Summit Sunset Tours throughout September at Falls Creek

Thursday, 04 Sep, 2007 0

To fully appreciate the magnificent vistas at Falls Creek there will be an opportunity from today to watch the sun go down from the top of the Summit.

Each Tuesday (weather permitting) in September resort guests will be invited to partake in a Summit Sunset Tour which includes million dollar views, bubbles and a gourmet hamper.

Sam Miranda Wines and Falls Creek Ski Lifts are coordinating this new activity which compliments the alpine resort’s natural environment.

Watching the sun go down from one of the best vantage points in Victoria is a very affordable $35 per person, including the round trip chairlift ride, a glass of bubbles and the gourmet picnic hamper.

If visitors can’t fit this most recent addition to a long list of guest-friendly activities at Falls Creek into their schedule there’s bungy trampoline sessions, snow tubing, grooming tours, heli flights or self-drive snowmobile tours.

The other good news is the Home Trails to the picturesque alpine resort are still open and the freeriders are relishing the numerous urban-style to the Ruined Castle Terrain Park which was used recently by the high flying participants in the world-class ‘Stylewars’ boarding extravaganza.

It will be classic spring conditions for the days ahead as the snow season gradually comes to a close.

Cool overnight temperatures have allowed extensive grooming which ensures the resort’s renowned beginner to intermediate terrain is in very good shape.

More adventurous skiers and boarders can take advantage of the good, early snow conditions by virtue of an early opener.

The Summit chair is open from 7.30am each morning and there’s some interesting snow-covered terrain throughout the aptly named Sun Valley.

As most of the ski lifts (and both terrain parks) are operating there is an extensive array of options for both boarders and skiers to take advantage of the remaining weeks of the 2007 snow season.

The snow tubing and Bungy trampoline are going gang busters in the Village Bowl and the Grooming Tours are proving to be one of more popular alternative options for resort guests.

Cross country skiers are also well catered for with about 28km of well groomed trails which fan out from the Nordic Bowl.
