Sun Country Airlines unveils its new no frills pricing structure
Minnesota based Sun Country Airlines, which recently announced it was pivoting to a low cost business model, has announced its new pricing structure.
Under a new three-tier pricing model, customers will soon pay a minimum $30 for a carry-on and at least $20 for a checked bag.
The price for both increases for flights outside the lower 48 states.
The airline is introducing three bundled fares for bookings made after October 25 for travel from January 19, 2018.
The cheapest is ‘Grab and Go’ which offers no access to overhead bins and allows for a small bag underneath a seat free of charge.
The ‘Check and Go’ option is a minimum $20 per checked bag and $25 for additional bags.
The ‘Store & Go’ bundle is $30 for one carry-on bag for the overhead bin and one additional personal item.
‘Store & Go’ ticket holders get priority boarding after first class travelers and frequent flyer members.
This option rises to $40 if purchased on day of departure at the airport.
Ufly Rewards Elite members are exempt from all the new fees, Sun Country said.
Sun Country announced the new low cost pricing strategy earlier this year after appointing former Allegiant Air COO Jude Bricker as its new chief executive.
