Sunvil’s Noel Josephides wins award
In April, Noel Josephides, the co-founder of Sunvil Holidays, received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his invaluable contribution to responsible tourism in Cyprus.
Josephides was presented the accolade, which recognises his 35-year service to Cyprus tourism and efforts to promote the island in a sustainable way, at an awards dinner hosted by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) in Vavatsinia, Cyprus.
Josephides said: “I am very honoured to receive this prestigious award. Sunvil has long supported sustainable tourism in Cyprus and recognises that many smaller villages across the island have been marginalised by tourist activity. We will always strive to promote alternative tourism to the island and to encourage visitors to experience the ‘real’ Cyprus – namely its authentic villages and traditional way of life.â€
He was also instrumental in Cyprus winning the prestigious Tourism for Tomorrow Award for its rural tourism projects, in so doing beating off stiff competition from all over the world. As Managing Director of Sunvil Holidays, he continues his efforts in promoting sustainable tourism to the island.â€
Cyprus-born Josephides co-founded Sunvil Holidays, a small tour operation to Cyprus, in 1973. The company was badly affected by the Turkish invasion of 1974, but survived, expanded and now produces ten brochures a year to a range of destinations worldwide.
Based in Isleworth, Middlesex, Sunvil has always stayed true to its original mission to provide responsible, low-volume, low-impact tourism to areas off the beaten track.
