Suspicious material causes United flight to emergency land
A United Airline flight carrying 74 people made an emergency landing Tuesday at O’Hare International Airport after suspicious material was found on the New York to San Francisco flight, reported the Associated Press.
According to a United spokesperson, a passenger aboard Flight 27 informed a flight attendant that he saw another passenger with suspicious material. After the flight attendant and crew examined the material and deemed it suspicious, the pilot landed the aircraft at O’Hare, where the Chicago Police Bomb and Arson squad investigated.
Neither United or the Chicago police would say what the material was or if anyone was taken into custody.
The 66 passengers and eight crew members were evacuated and no one was injured.
