Swallow Hotels brand revived
The Swallow Hotels brand is to be retained on 26 former properties taken on by Crerar Hotels.
The Scottish company has bought the Swallow name for an undisclosed sum and will use the branding alongside its six Crerar Hotels.
This will allow the group to operate two hotel brands with different brand criteria.
The company behind Swallow Hotels called in administrators last September.
Crerar Hotels CEO Paddy Crerar said: “Swallow has been a successful hotel brand for more than 30 years. Like all household names there are inevitable peaks and troughs but over the time the qualities of the brand have remained steady.
“The recent issues with Swallow Hotels related to the financial model which was unrelated to the actual hotel product. The hotel qualities and customer perception remain high and we will be building on this over the coming months.”
The Swallow name will be used on the following hotels: Belstead Brook Hotel, Ipswich, Suffolk; Buckatree Hall Hotel, Telford, Shropshire; Chaucer Hotel, Canterbury; Eden Arms Hotel, Rushyford, County Durham; Fishers Hotel, Pitlochry; Gateshead Hotel, Gateshead; Golf View Hotel, Nairn; Gretna Hall Hotel, Dumfriesshire; Old Manor Hotel, Fife; Plough & Harrow, Birmingham; St George Hotel, Harrogate, North Yorkshire; Station Hotel, Ayr; Bower Hotel, Manchester; Churchgate Hotel, Old Harlow, Essex; Dundee Hotel, Invergowrie, Dundee; Glasgow Hotel, Paisley Road West, Glasgow; Hilltop Hotel, Carlisle, Cumbria; Imperial Hotel, Newcastle upon Tyne; Learmonth, Edinburgh; Preston Hotel, Samlesbury, Preston; St Nicholas, Scarborough, North Yorkshire; Stockton Hotel, Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland; Three Tuns Hotel, New Elvet, Durham City; Thainstone House Hotel, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire; The Waterside Inn, Peterhead, Aberdeenshire; George Hotel, Chollerford, Northumberland.
