Publication lists 250 great places to take your clothes off

Hotels that have facilities for nude sunbathing, and where going naked is deemed acceptable, have been listed in a new “swimsuits optional” guide.

The book, published by Lifestyle Press, does not list nudist camps, but hotels and resorts around the world that offer facilities for those who prefer to sunbathe undressed.

According to the guide, rules regarding nudity are “flying out the window”, and it no longer necessary to have high security surrounding those who “just want to chill out and sunbathe without a costume”. A quarter of the British population has swum in the nude, 14 per cent of us have sunbathed au naturel, and 82 per cent believe nudity should be legal on some beaches.

Accommodation is listed by destination, and offers a brief description of what naturist facilities are on offer. For example, the Hotel Jardin Isla Bonita, in Tenerife, offers “a naturist terrace and plunge pool on the roof. The nudist facility is not mentioned in UK tour operators brochures but it is described in the hotel’s own brochure and website”.

More than 250 such hotels and resorts around the world are listed in the guide. For more information visit www.alloverhotels.com.
