Sydneys newest conference facilities
The Mercure Hotel Sydney Airport has just completed a multi-million dollar refurbishment to its rooms and public areas and is currently finalising renovations to its ballroom and function rooms. When complete, the Mercure will offer the newest meeting facilities in the area and will boast stylish, affordable rooms that will appeal not only to business travellers but to leisure guests, conferences and events.
The renovations will see the Mercure become a major convention hotel, just 15 minutes from the city. The upgrade comes in time to capitalise on the planned redevelopment of the Arncliffe and Airport precinct, including the nearby Cook’s Cove Business Park and the Discovery Point Commercial and Residential project. Sydney Airport is not just the principal gateway for international visitors to Sydney, but is also a significant commercial and industrial area in its own right, with many surrounding businesses.
The conference rooms are being brightened with new lighting, new carpets and wallpaper, modern ergonomic furnishings, state-of-the-art sound systems and a new ceiling. The new lighting and sound proofing will enable the hotel to host a range of function styles simultaneously and cater for anything from a board meeting for 12 to a ball for 400. Mercure Sydney Airport is also one of the only hotels in the area to offer direct vehicle access to the ballroom, making it perfect for car launches and meaning bump-in and -out is quick and efficient.
Season’s Restaurant and Bradley’s Bar have also been completely updated recently with a modern, casual atmosphere and the bar now boasts a large plasma screen which can be used for presentations. Bradley’s Bar is ideal for pre- or post-conference drinks and the restaurant provides a stylish setting for intimate dinners, wedding feasts or conference banquets. Behind the scenes, upgraded kitchen facilities mean the Mercure now has an enhanced food and beverage offering.
Best of all, the hotel’s professional events team can look after all your function needs and will take the hassle out of any event, ensuring a memorable occasion for all. An inhouse AV department means all your technical needs are taken care of seamlessly.
As part of the upgrade of the hotel’s technology, the Mercure now offers Wi-Fi hot spots in public areas and conference rooms as well as in many accommodation rooms.
The Mercure’s excellent location and easy access from the southern suburbs, as well as its proximity to the M5 makes it a great spot for conferences, especially with the airport precinct undergoing enormous growth.
It is also close to some of Sydney’s best golf courses, Brighton Beach, Botany Bay, La Perouse, East Gardens shopping, Centennial Park, Randwick Racecourse and many other attractions, meaning it’s not just a hotel for weary corporates with flight connections to catch but also for clever leisure guests wanting to be close to the city without spending a fortune.
