Tarsc system goes online

Travel technology provider Vertical Group has developed an online version of the Tarsc system enabling an agent’s customers to manage their booking online from home.

Customers will be able to click on a ‘my account’ button on the agent’s website and view their itinerary, check for any messages from the agent and make part or all of the holiday payment.

Prior to the launch of Tarsc Online customers would have to go into the branch to check details and make payments or do it over the phone.

Vertical Group sales director Russell Parr said: “Doing it that way involved a lot of administration for the agent and a lot of phone calls.”

Tarsc Online will be available to existing users of the latest version of the Tarsc back-office system with no set-up or monthly fees.

Vertical Group plans to charge a transaction fee based on when the customer makes payments and looks up his or her details.

An agent will only be charged once no matter how many times a customer chooses to check his holiday details but a small charge will be applicable every time the customer pays an amount off their holiday.

Parr said the transaction fee would be pence rather than pounds and that the payment details would be automatically downloaded into the Tarsc back-office system.

Future releases of Tarsc Online will enable customers to book ancillary products such as car-hire and insurance.
