Taxi smashes into Heathrow terminal after driver suffers heart attack
Heathrow Airport has launched an investigation after a taxi smashed into the departure hall at Terminal 5.
It is believed the driver, a man in his 60s, suffered a cardiac arrest at the wheel. The Volkswagon people carrier mounted the pavement, crashed through a barrier and hit a tall glass window.
The driver was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he is said to be in a critical condition. An airport worker told the Evening Standard no-one else was injured in the crash, which happened early on Monday morning.
