Technology obsessed nation can still get its fix on holiday
Outdoor accommodation specialist Pitchup.com is highlighting the growing number of properties on its site that have wifi and other high-tech features.
It’s in response to demand from people who can’t bear the thought of not staying connected on holiday.
This Christmas is set to be the biggest so far for sales of electrical devices such as tablets and mobiles, while a survey by American Express reveals 83% expect to stay digitally connected on holiday, with 64% checking their work email daily.
Over half of all bookable sites on Pitchup.com offer wifi, and around 40% have free wifi for guests, while others are offering high tech features such as Sky TV, games consoles and DVD players for guests as demand reaches an all time high.
Pitchup.com has also made it easier for those who want a complete ‘digital detox’, with a guide to ‘wild camping’, which gives a full lowdown of the best camping spots where people can get totally away from it all.
Users can also browse over 90 sites with wild camping in the UK, France and Ireland, such as North Lodge in Pembrokeshire, from £40 per night.
Pitchup.com founder Dan Yates commented: "There was a time when people would give a quick ring home to say they’d arrived safely, then get on with their holiday.
"But now many of our users prefer to stay in places with wifi, TVs, DAB radio and gaming devices."
Yates added: "On the other hand, we recognise the growing trend for the ‘digital detox’ and we appreciate that some holidaymakers will actively seek out pitches that are free from all technology."
