Thai island enforces ban on plastics
The Thai island of Koh Nang Yuan has declared that plastic is not fantastic.
It has warned tourists that any plastic items and styrofoam boxes are not allowed to be brought on the Southern Thailand island.
This includes small water bottles, unless there are multiple use recyclable ones.
Koh Nang Yuan residents have had rules limiting single use plastics for several years.
Inbound visitors will be given glass bottled water instead of plastic along with instructions on where to collect empty glass bottles after use.
Tourists are encouraged to use water sparingly.
Koh Nang Yuan is made up of three connected islets and attracts thousands for scuba diving and snorkelling its coral reefs.
