Thailand braced for downturn in Russian arrivals

The Tourism Authority of Thailand expects the Russia-Ukraine conflict to impact inbound tourism. About 10% of arrivals under the ‘Test & Go’ programme are from Russia, with many considered high-quality tourists, said Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications.

Siripakorn expects many to cancel trips and airlines are forced to divert to revised flight paths or cancel their flights altogether.

“The situation is beyond our control. TAT can only closely monitor the situation and maintain consistent communication,” Siripakorn said.
