Thailand edges toward 2024 tourism target
Thailand welcomed just under 30 million foreign tourist arrivals during the first 10 months of 2024.
It is edging toward the full year target of 35 million foreign tourists.
So far, international tourism has generated nearly THB1.4 trillion revenues, the government said.
Tourism leaders are hopeful of reaching their full year tourism goal although it will likely fall short on the overall tourism revenue target set at THB3 trillion.
So far Thailand has welcomed nearly 6 million Chinese travelers, with tourists from Malaysia next at 4.27 million.
India is third with 1.7 million.
Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong said the past week has seen a 16.85% increase in long-haul travelers as the high season approaches.
Thailand’s cabinet has just approved two additional holidays for next year to encourage more domestic tourism over long weekends.
