Thailand to lift international flight ban

Tuesday, 30 Jun, 2020 0

Thailand’s Civil Aviation Authority is lifting the international flight ban with effect from July 1.

However general tourism is still banned.

It comes as the government approved limited inbound travel for business, students and travellers on work visas.

Foreigners with work permits or residency will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine.

"Thailand continues to work on agreements with Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Japan in business travel bubbles, which would give them exemption from the quarantine under a fast track entry program," said Taweesin Wisanuyothin of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration.

"There is no proposal to change the flight suspension and travellers can return with repatriation flights and special flights," he said.

The government says it has gone 35 days without a community transmission and all new cases have been imported from returning Thais.
