Thailand tourist boat sinks
A tourist boat heading to an offshore island in Thailand sank forcing everyone into the water to swim to shore.
Luckily, it happened less than 200 metres from the shore of little known Koh Talu island and all onboard the boat had life jackets.
It is unknown how many tourists were on board but several were from Sweden.
One Swede, called Marcus, described the incident to Swedish media.
He said the boat took on water in rough seas and not far from the shore all were forced to jump into the water and swim to the shore.
“The children were very scared, but most people stayed calm,” Marcus said.
Marcus said he had to hike through jungle to reach his hotel.
Unfortunately, all passengers lost their belongings. “But the important thing is that everyone is safe,” he added.
The Sweden Ministry for Foreign Affairs said one person was reported injured.
