Thailand tourist fee confirmed
The Thailand tourist fee was green lighted by the Thai Cabinet and goes live this summer.
It confirmed the THB300 (US$8.80) fee per person arriving by air.
Travellers entering by land or sea pay THB150.
The Thailand tourist fee includes accident insurance protection for foreign tourists.
It is expected to start in June.
“The collected fee will be used to tourism and insurance for international tourists during their stay,” said government spokesperson Traisulee Traisoranakul.
Transit travellers are exempt from the fee.
Fee revenues will help maintain tourist attractions and infrastructure.
