The affordable side of Anguilla
The Caribbean island of Anguilla has often been known as a haven for affluent travelers, but tourist officials there are making an effort to be more affordable, says Amelia Vanterpool-Kubisch.
“Anguilla offers a range of accommodations for everyone,” said Mr Vanterpool-Kubisch, director of tourism.
One way of getting that message out: the “Charming Escapes” program.
The program is a seal of approval designation for the island’s leading mid-market properties. It includes 16 resorts-hotels that often have shared attributes from ocean views to meticulously landscaped grounds.
Though the properties are generally viewed as affordable, luxury is not left out. Some of the select properties, for example, will arrange a chef to come in and cook gourmet meals.
