The Sun Big Charity Holiday Auction | 21 November – 23 December 2009

Caribbean Unpackaged is delighted to be involved in the Big Charity Holiday Auction and have donated a holiday for 2 at the luxurious 4* Windjammer Landing Resort in St. Lucia for a 10 night stay, including return flights for 2 persons .

Run by The Sun, and operated by lowest unique bid website Bidclever, The Sun Big Charity Auction in aid of Just a Drop is the biggest ever fundraising event of its kind, with £200.000 in holidays up for grabs between Saturday 21st November and Wednesday 23rd December.

It costs just 50p per bid to enter and, this being a reverse auction it is the lowest unique bid that wins. There is a spectacular array of prizes being given away ranging from short breaks in Disneyland Paris, Innsbruck, Las Vegas and Reykjavik to holidays in Austria, Brazil, Cuba, Turkey and St. Lucia.

“Given the harsh economic climate we adopted ‘a gift in kind’ strategy and The Sun and Bidclever immediately both offered to give their support for free.” said Fiona Jeffery, founder and chairman of Just a Drop. “Then travel & tourism companies from around the world rallied together to donate over 30 fabulous holiday prizes.”

The Sun Big Charity Holiday Auction will appear in TheSun.co.uk’s travel section between 21 November and 23 December and will be fully backed by The Sun who are running lead auction articles in their Saturday travel pages throughout the duration of the fundraising promotion.

Deputy travel editor, Pete Bell, has visited one of Just a Drop’s projects in Niger and will be reporting back from the field on vital life-saving work that the charity is carrying out.

“Key is not only raising the profile of the charity and the work we do but to also to ask readers to become ‘Sun Friends of Just a Drop’ and donate £2.00 a month because over a year this is all that it takes to provide clean, safe water to a family for life”.
