The Clooney effect leads to surge in searches
The Clooney effect is stronger than ever with the recent wedding of George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin sparking a surge in searches for Venice.
Hotels.com saw hotel searches to the Italian city increase by 106% in Britain, compared to the same week last year.
And it’s not just in the UK. Globally searches were up 77%, in Germany searches were up 149% and in the Netherlands up 125%, year on year.
Lizann Peppard, of Hotels.com, said: " With so many stunning images of the city beamed around the world, it’s no surprise that many of us are now considering a getaway to this beautiful city.
"Happily, there is no need to break into the bank to follow in the footsteps of the Oceans Eleven star as there are plenty of more affordable bargains there to be found."
