Air New Zealand is to launch a marketing offensive on UK agents in the wake of the Christchurch earthquake.
Over the next two weeks, 20 of the airline’s staff, from the marketing teams to cabin crew, will travel around the country visiting 480 agencies and 5000 frontline staff to educate them on the destination and its attractions.
They will also address questions about the situation in Christchurch post quake.
This is the first time in four years that the carrier has launched such a blitz. Air New Zealand has much riding on stimulating business right now, with the launch of its new B777-300 that begins flying from London via Los Angeles to Auckland from April 2.
The aircraft boasts the new economy Skycouch, which is effectively three economy seats that make a couch for families or couples wanting more room, and the new Premium Economy spaceseat, which offers singletons more privacy and couples the chance to eat facing each other.
New Zealand general manager UK and Europe Chris Myers said: “While the impact of the earthquake in Christchurch has been huge, the rest of New Zealand is very much open for business. It’s also a very exciting time with the launch of our new aircraft in the first week of April so there’s a lot to share with our trade partners to help them really get in behind and sell Air New Zealand and our destinations.”
Agents visited by the team will get a goody bag with the chance to win prizes including a next-gen Ipad and flights to Los Angeles.
