The Scots do Fiji

Their agent in Scotland told them about the coup and offered change their programme, but they checked out the internet and in particular the Fiji Times and decided to go with it.

On a jam packed 747 400 out of Sydney on Sunday, The Mole kept thinking that if the coup was having an effect, then surely this aircraft would be half full, not full to the ceiling as it was.

It has to be said though that there appeared to be a lot of Brits on their way to Fiji, having stopped over in Aus and also a number of Aussies on their way to ski in Canada and the USA, via Fiji and Hawaii.

The Mole bumped into Brits Diane and John Bell from Ayrshire in Scotland who told The Mole that their agent in the UK told them about the coup and did they want to change their programme, but they checked out the internet and in particular the Fiji Times and decided to go with it.

They said that they felt they really got an honest picture from the Fiji Times and that the British and Australian Governments were just creating fear and from what they had heard in their one month stopover in Australia, the advisories were over the top.

The other thing that made them very comfortable with continuing with their plans to stay in Fiji, was that they saw Australian travel agents adverting Fiji in their windows so they though it must be OK.

Their week long stay in Fiji was their last stop prior to flying via LAX back to Scotland.
