The Unbound Collection by Hyatt debuts in Thailand with The Barai Hua Hin

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has opened The Barai Hua Hin, introducing The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand to Thailand for the first time.

Located on the Khao Takiap coastline in Hua Hin, the 98-room beachfront resort blends wellness, contemporary Thai design and the spirit of Sanook – the Thai concept celebrating joy and the pleasures of everyday life.

The opening marks a new chapter for The Barai, which first gained international recognition two decades ago as a destination spa. It has now evolved into a full-service boutique resort while maintaining its focus on wellness and personalized experiences.

Marco Avitabile, General Manager of The Barai Hua Hin, said the property is designed to allow guests to experience relaxation at their own pace.

Our philosophy is rooted in Sanook, the belief that joy, ease and delight should be part of life’s most meaningful moments,” he said. “Whether guests come for deep rest, movement, spa rituals, culinary discovery or time by the sea, we invite them to experience renewal in a way that feels personal and memorable.

Hua Hin has long been associated with relaxation. Originally a fishing village, the destination became a favored seaside retreat for Thai royalty and aristocracy. Today, visitors can combine a beach vacation with excursions to nearby natural attractions including Kui Buri National Park, Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park and Phraya Nakhon Cave.

Wellness and architecture inspired by the elements

The resort incorporates the elements of water, earth, air and fire throughout its layout. Courtyards, shaded walkways and water features create an atmosphere intended to encourage relaxation and reflection.

The property features two swimming pools. The Forest Pool sits amid lush greenery, while the Beach Pool overlooks the Gulf of Thailand.

Accommodation includes 98 rooms and suites, among them 27 suites and two two-bedroom penthouses. Spacious balconies, soaking tubs and rainforest showers are standard features, while premium suites offer butler service, private rituals and daily massage treatments.

At the heart of the resort is The Barai Spa, whose name references ancient water reservoirs that once sustained communities across Southeast Asia. The spa combines traditional healing approaches with modern wellness concepts.

A two-story Wellness Hub complements the spa with a 24-hour fitness center, yoga studio, holistic treatment area and wellness boutique. Programs focus on sleep recovery, women’s health, longevity, emotional wellbeing, heart health and back care. Guests receive personalized wellness plans overseen by integrated wellness practitioner Dr. Chuthamat Srinoi, known as Dr. Cash.

Heritage dining concepts by the sea

Food and beverage offerings are led by Chef Benn Rowe, whose experience spans leading restaurants in Australia and Thailand.

White Cottage pays tribute to the seaside homes once favored by Siamese nobility. The restaurant serves breakfast and later transforms into an upscale venue featuring seafood, plant-forward dishes and Thai-inspired cuisine.

McFarland House occupies a restored 19th-century beachfront pavilion overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. Once owned by Dr. George Bradley McFarland, an influential figure in Thailand’s medical and educational history, it now serves modern European cuisine, grilled specialties, afternoon tea and one of Hua Hin’s best-known Sunday brunches.

As the first Thai property within The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, The Barai Hua Hin expands the brand’s portfolio of independent luxury hotels.
